At Xaok you find an unusual cuisine proposal that demonstrates great skill in achieving new flavors with a different perspective of beauty in each dish.
We are a small restaurant in Oaxaca that seeks to break the standards of contemporary Oaxacan cuisine with a different menu that highlights the use of native ingredients and locally consumed products; but through a diverse gastronomic vision, we present to you a culinary expression that we call multiform.
A chef with great inspiration in the gastronomic diversity and the vast availability of ingredients that exist in his culture.
He is originally from Santa María Huatulco; a special place on the coast of Oaxaca where the consumption of different fish and seafood is part of the daily culinary habits of the community. Since he was little he has been involved in the flavors of the sea and the exuberant nature that surrounds that region of fertile lands rich in ingredients.
As the years went by, his interest discovering new flavors and techniques led him to study gastronomy and do his professional internship at Áperi in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato; an extraordinary place with avant-garde cuisine where he learned new disciplines with chef Mateo Salas.
For 5 years, chef Uriel García was able to demonstrate with ease and freedom all his skills and abilities as head chef at Origen Oaxaca restaurant; but currently he is discovering new paths and writing his own story in Xaok.

Ian Morrison4 February 2025 Had dinner with three good friends here on the first day that the new location was open. What a fantastic experience! The design is enchanting, the service is very friendly and impeccably organized, and Chef Uriel Garcia's cooking combines an unmistakable Oaxacan core with well matched personal touches that make the food both light and delicious. Rachel Berger20 December 2024 incredible. just go. don’t skip the tar tar, which is a nod to pasillo de humo. Rob Jones29 November 2024 Amazing little place we stumbled across. Incredible attention to detail, refined but fresh food. We had sweetcorn soup and crab tacos with two delicious flavoured soda waters with fresh herbs. Good staff as well, very professional Elliott Chapman29 November 2024 Best meal of our trip in Oaxaca! Incredibly fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked shrimp, and the soft shelled crab tacos alone are worth the trip. Phenomenal food and lovely staff. A restaurant that should be on every food lover's itinerary. Dixon Wong26 November 2024 We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here—this is easily one of the best dining values we found in the city. The short rib was incredibly tender, falling right off the bone, and packed with flavor. The ravioli was rich and delicious, while the corn soup was perfectly savory. Make sure to save room for dessert—the chocolate cake was absolutely phenomenal. On top of the amazing food, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. We highly recommend this restaurant! Connie Shortes24 November 2024 My partner and I showed up at this place for dinner and were so impressed with the food and the service. It’s warm and intimate, and the food is first class, from the appetizer to the dessert. I am vegetarian, and found a wonderful corn soup and a salad with burrata that was to die for. My partner had the fish ceviche. The chocolate sponge cake literally altered our state of consciousness. Amazing! We could taste the care that was put into every dish. So glad we discovered Xaok. Justin Eichenauer8 November 2024 Amazing service and even better food! We went with a big group and really took great care of us. Very accommodating to any dietary restrictions you have.
